Colonization Thoughts

I don't know where to aim anymore.
DuBoise called it, double troubled boogeyman.
Variance is the only difference that is honored
for the rest of us, there was no infinite frontier.
With the steel precision of mass-produced objects,
we were stamped in icy, impenetrable black ink.
“Nègre”
in the void state, our screams are silenced.
I wonder what you have consumed in me?
Anthro, paleo, socio, economic?
In order to attain your lessons and to build your schools,
what did you consume in me?
White folks pledge allegiance to the valor of the ancient world and hate its children.
The discovery of bodies in their variance
willed reality into a series of investments controlled by vice.
Must “leave in da name of Jesus, Jesu, Fada’ God!”
’cause I’m here to guns, germs, and steal yo earth.
“Dear Baroness, I beg you, in order to control the colonies, we must steeple
the very beginning, name every son and daughter after no land.”
Why must ye war with… and?
All over Timbuktu and yesterday, y’all went searching for the other,
built concrete monuments of yourselves on the darkest soil,
chiseled away until Bill became master of the shadows.
This is not a poem.
There is no YES to worship.
This is the essence of questioning.
How do you contextualize dark matter, dark time, dark space, dark big bang,
and the foundational darkness of your science and not see that not Shanae, with the stiff edges, who goes by “Sassy Shanae” on the internet, could be your savior?
People who walked on gold still imagined you, fresh out of the cave, as a brother.
How is that not something to exalt?
A comprehensive reflection on how adding value can dehumanize:
The plus sign, I’m convinced, has killed us.
In a hierarchical state, identity development must include rigor,
according to a surly man who does not allow love to be meaningless and true,
to a people who so feared the bullishness of memory, they called it reason.
And the Black
big ol’ strong horizontal back
is the oldest memory there is.
Your history profits when we forget.
Haha!
Ours understands forgetting is how you exalt the present moment.
Is that modernization theory or development theory?
Theory disregards that truth is held in the form.
ahA!
Plant us in the new world,
and you still hear a beat, boom-boxing big booty hottentots into slow whines,
still see wide-eye smiles creep up in what you call property.
But…
Niggas took nigger and made it nigga,
reconstructed how powerfully a word could hit their nerves.
Nerve regeneration is the new frontier of science.
Nanoparticles restructuring what died off is called brilliance now.
Niggas got nerve.
so, behind the crops and the ears we wait to blacken after birth.
we know…
what you are…
really scared of…

Emilomo Farai Mwendapole's practice centers on understanding systems, using the body in all its forms (as spirit, inheritance, flesh, beauty, product, and consumer) to observe and honor what it means to develop true self-sight. Deeply informed by non-linearity, she works across poetry, digital design, performance, and business modeling to explore personal power, victimhood, and world-building.
